WASHINGTON - The 2025 United East Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships got underway Saturday at the Thomas O. Berg Track on the campus of Gallaudet University in the nation's capital. The women were able to complete six events before rain halted the first day of the conference championship.
Gallaudet first year Mackenzie Schirg (Factoryville, Pa.) participated in two throwing events; javelin and discus. Schirg finished sixth in the javelin with a distance of 26.00 meters (85 feet, three inches). She also finished 14th in discus with a top toss of 24.11 meters (79 feet, one inch).
Junior Priscilla Berrios (Miami, Fla.) finished 14h in the 100-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 15.35 seconds. Berrios also placed 15th in the 200-meter dash prelims with a time of 31.15 seconds. The top eight finishers in the 100- and 200-meter preliminaries advance to Sunday's final events.
Sophomore Alecia Miller (Litchfield, Ill) participated in the pole vault but unfortunately did not record a mark.
First year Sara Duncan (Mesa, Ariz.) placed 23th overall in the discus with a top toss of 9.87 meters.

The second day of the 2025 United East Outdoor Track and Field Championships will continue tomorrow (Sunday, May 4) at 10 a.m. The start time moved up one hour due to expected rain delays slated for Sunday. A special senior recognition program will take place in the infield at 9:30 a.m. as the conference pays tribute to those graduating seniors competing in their final meet.
