WASHINGTON - Gallaudet University and Howard University hosted the Bison Classic here Saturday at the Thomas O. Berg Track as eight teams participated.
Howard University, who was celebrating Senior Day at the Bison Classic, won the meet with 114 team points. Medgar Evers College finished second with 53 points while McDaniel College finished third with 45 points. Marymount (Va.) University placed fourth (41), Gallaudet finished fifth (15) followed by St. Mary's College of Maryland in sixth (12), Hope College in seventh (three) and Notre Dame of Maryland University in eighth (one).
Senior
Midajah Davis (Roanoke, Va.) won first place in the shot put event with a top toss of 11.01 meters. Davis finished seventh in the hammer with a top toss of 29.94 meters.
First year
Mackenzie Schirg (Factoryville, Pa.) participated in two events; javelin and discus and finished fourth (24.92 meters) and fifth (23.82 meters), respectively.
In the long distance events, sophomore
Olivia Armstrong (Rotterdam, N.Y.) won the 5,000-meter run as she crossed the finish line with a time of 24 minutes and 23.08 seconds, a new career best.
First year
Joy Watkins (Hockley, Texas) participated in the 800-meter run and finished ninth overall with a time of 3:00.77 (personal record). Watkins placed 12th overall in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 6:15.57.
BISON TRACKS
- Junior Priscilla Berrios (Miami, Fla.) finished 10th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 31.60 seconds. Berrios also placed 20th in the 100-meter dash prelims with a time of 15.17 seconds.
- Sophomore Alecia Miller (Litchfield, Ill) placed sixth in the pole vault (1.69 meters)
UP NEXT
Gallaudet will travel north to New Jersey to participate in the Oscar Moore Invitational hosted by Rowan University next Saturday, April 12, at noon.
