Pair of Bison earn CSC Academic All-District Women's Swimming honors

WASHINGTON  - The College Sports Communicators announced its 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's Swimming & Diving Teams and Gallaudet University sophomores Sam Michaelson (Southwick, Mass.) and Tiadra Vang (Kansas City, Kan.) landed on the Division III team for the first time in their career.

The GU women's swimming program now has five Academic All-District® honors since 2013-14. Gallaudet has 21 Academic All-America® honors in its history with one coming from the women's swimming program. The last Gallaudet women's swimmer to receive Academic All-America® honors was Katie Giles Bean, who was selected in 2013-14.

There are six representatives from an Atlantic East Conference program as three teams were represented. Marywood University led the way with three honorees while Gallaudet had two and Cedar Crest College had one. Schools were limited to four nominations for this sport.

Outstanding student-athletes are nominated for Academic All-District® recognition by current dues-paying CSC members and must meet high academic and athletic standards. Eligible nominees will receive Academic All-District recognition.

The title Academic All-America® is reserved for student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their sport and in the classroom.

To be eligible for College Sports Communicators Academic honors, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution and be nominated by their athletic communicator/sports information director. In 2023-24 a new requirement started, as student-athletes must compete in five competitions or finish top-eight at a conference championship meet to be eligible.

The Academic All-America® women's swimming teams will be announced on Tuesday, April 22.
