LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East Conference announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Feb. 17 and Gallaudet University's junior thrower
Navar Harris (Charleston, W.Va.) was named Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Harris finished ninth overall in the shot put with a top toss of 12.84 meters (42 feet, 1.50 inches) last Saturday at the Joe LaRocco Invitational, held at Cregger Field House on the Roanoke College campus. Harris was just under a meter from his league leading throw from 10 days ago.
Lancaster Bible College junior David Helms was selected as the Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week after placed third overall in the 5K with a time of 15:11.29. He also finished 11th in the 3K with a time of 9:03.54.
GU HONORS
This is Gallaudet's second United East Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor this season and Harris' first career conference weekly award.Â
