Gallaudet's Brielle Worley earns second Division III Women's Volleyball Academic All-America honor

AUSTIN, Texas – Gallaudet University junior outside hitter Brielle Worley (Amarillo, Texas) was selected to the 2025 Academic All-America® Division III Women's Volleyball teams, as selected by the College Sports Communicators.

Worley was named to the first team from Gallaudet, the world's only university with programs and services specifically designed to accommodate deaf and hard of hearing students. Worley is the only representative from the United East Conference. 

Worley is one of 21 honorees named to three different teams from around the country in Division III women's volleyball where 417 schools field teams. The 21 members of the 2025 Academic All-America® Division III Women's Volleyball teams have at least a 3.50 GPA, with seven student-athletes maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA. The entire Division III team had a cumulative average GPA of 3.88.

Worley, a business administration major, posted a perfect 3.98 grade point average and was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America honorable mention for a second straight year. Worley earned a second consecutive United East Women's Volleyball Player of the Year awards and made second appearances on the AVCA All-Region first team and United East all-conference first team. Worley ranked in the Top 7 in Division III for total kills (509), kills per set (4.85), points (580.5) and points per set (5.53).

Worley becomes Gallaudet's first women's volleyball player to earn multiple Academic All-America® honors (2024, '25). GU has earned five Academic All-America® honors in program history which includes; Worley (2025 - First Team, 2024 - Third Team), Ella Gamble (2023 - First Team), Cassidy Perry (2023 - Third Team) and Ann Whited (2012 - Third Team).

Graycee Mosley from East Texas Baptist University, was picked Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for Division III women's volleyball. The other first team honorees in addition to Mosley include; Simone Adam (Johns Hopkins), Alyssa Dozier (Christopher Newport), Samantha Perlberg (UW-Oshkosh), Helena Swaak (Johns Hopkins) and Madie Whitehead (Berry). Mosley and Dozier each earned their third honor while five others earned a second appearance including Worley.

To be eligible for College Sports Communicators Academic honors, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution and be nominated by their athletic communicator/sports information director. Student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests played or must start in at least 66 percent of the games/contests/matches.

Gallaudet Associate Athletic Director for Communications Sam Atkinson, a College Sports Communicators Past President, nominated Worley for this honor and has helped Gallaudet athletics increase its Academic All-America® totals, elevenfold, in his 16 years at the helm. Gallaudet has earned 23 Academic All-America selections in program history since the inception of the awards in 1952. Twenty-one of the 23 honors have come in the last 14 years as GU earned at least one every year for six years straight (2012-17).
