GU picks up seven United East Men’s Outdoor Track and Field all-conference honors, Moore voted Coach of the Year

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East Conference released its 2025 Men's Outdoor Track and Field All-Conference teams and major awards.

Gallaudet University brought home seven all-conference honors with two Bison landing on the first team, four on the second team and one third team honor. GU head coach Byron Moore was voted as the 2025 United East Men's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.

This was Moore's first United East Men's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year award. Two years ago, Moore was voted as the 2023 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Women's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year, the last time GU hosted a conference championship.

All-conference honors, in the form of medals (gold, silver, bronze), were given to the top three finishers at the 2025 United East Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at the Thomas O. Berg Track in Washington, D.C., hosted by Gallaudet University on May 3-4.

Senior Walter Douglas (Sanford, Fla.) took first in the long jump as he broke the conference championship record with a top leap of 6.84 meters (22 feet, 5.25 inches). Sophomore Roberto Torres (Miami Gardens, Fla) crossed the finish line to finish first place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event with a time of 10 minutes and 39.22 seconds to deliver GU its two gold medals.

GU's second team honorees include sophomore Andrae' Green (Washington, D.C.) in the triple jump, sophomore Navar Harris (Charleston, W.Va.) in the shot put, sophomore Andrew Suarez (Fairview, Texas) in the hammer and Torres in the 5,000 meter run.

Douglas, Green, Torres along with senior Enow Otto Jr. (Silver Spring, Md.) earned a third team honor in the 4x400 meter relay event.

The Bison finished in fourth place out of eight teams with 71 team points.

Penn St.-Harrisburg won its first United East conference championship as the Nittany Lions earned 234 team points.

St. Mary's freshman Pierson Hogue was named Track Athlete of the Year and Rookie of the Year. Penn St.-Harrisburg senior Sean Myron was selected as the Field Athlete of the Year. Lancaster Bible senior Dustin Frantz took home the Elite 20, awarded to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average that competed this weekend.
