ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The 2025 outdoor track and field season got underway for Gallaudet University here Saturday at the Seahawk Invitational hosted by St.Mary's College of Maryland. There were no team scores for this meet.
Senior
Andrew Bibbs (Columbia, S.C.) participated in two events; high jump and triple jump and finished both in first overall. He cleared 1.75 meters in high jump and 11.37 meters in triple jump.
Sophomore
Andrew Suarez (Fairview, Texas) won first overall in discus with a top toss of 34.56 meters and that was his personal best.Â
Senior
Walter Douglas (Sanford, Fla.) leaped 6.40 meters in long jump event and finished second. Douglas participated in 100-meter dash and finished sixth with a time of 11.56 seconds and he was GU's first runner to finish the 200-meter dash in (23.55 seconds) in 16th overall.
Sophomore
Navar Harris (Charleston, W.Va.) placed second in the shot put with a big throw of 12.27 meters. Suarez finished fourth in the shot put (11.17 meters).
Senior
KaVargio Smith (Union, S.C.) finished second in both the high jump and triple with marks of 1.60 meters and 11.27 meters, respectively.
Senior
Cotis Martinez (Turlock, Calif.) placed second in discus (33.45 meters).
Sophomore
Gabe Cadete (Nashua, N.H.) took sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.84).
Martinez placed fourth in javelin throw (41.89 meters) while Cadete took sixth overall (34.57 meters).
UP NEXT
Gallaudet and Howard University will host the Bison Classic next Saturday, April 5, at 9:30 a.m. at the Thomas O. Berg Track.
