WASHINGTON - The College Sports Communicators, formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), announced its 2023 Academic All-District® Softball Teams and Gallaudet University junior
Emma Giuntoli (Austin, Texas) landed on the Division III team. Giuntoli will now be added to the national ballot for the chance to earn Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on Tuesday, June 6.
Giuntoli, a communications studies major, has a 3.63 grade point average and is expected to graduate this December from Gallaudet, the world's only university with programs and services specifically designed to accommodate deaf and hard of hearing students. Giuntoli is one of six representatives from a United East Conference program. Penn St.-Abington led the way with three honorees including; Maddie Duffy, Hailey Gamble and Jenna Gorman while Penn St.-Harrisburg had two honorees; Lauren Hess and Maddy Lehigh.
The last time a Gallaudet softball player earned Academic All-District honors came in 2019 when
Hannah Neild was selected to the first team, she later landed on the Academic All-America third team that year. The Bison have 16 Academic All-America honors in its history.
To be eligible for College Sports Communicators Academic honors, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her athletic communicator/sports information director.

College Sports Communicators (CSC) began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored more than 38,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors. Currently, CSC honors Academic All-Americans in 12 sports.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
