Gallaudet advanced to the winner's bracket of the Green Terror
Tournament by winning both of their matches tonight over Newbury
College and McDaniel. On Saturday Gallaudet will have a re-match
with McDaniel, then face Salisbury.
In their first game of the night, Gallaudet wore down Newbury
College 25-7, 25-12, 25-2. They then faced McDaniel, which also
defeated Newbury 25-7, 25-12, 25-2. Gallaudet started off slowly,
losing the first set to McDaniel 19-25, then survived a tough
second set to win 27-25, and won the final two sets 25-13 and
25-21.
Gallaudet Head Coach Lynn
Ray Boren said the team is really playing together better as a
team and supporting each other. "We had a lot of momentum
today. It really boosted the team and increased their confidence.
The ladies had a lot of fun tonight." A big part of the
success the Bison had tonight was due to their positive reaction to
losing the first set against McDaniel. Coach Boren said, "We
changed our game plan after the first set and I was really proud of
how the players executed after we changed our game plan. "
Saturday, Gallaudet has a rematch with McDaniel at 10 am, which
advanced to the winner's bracket based on tiebreakers, then will
face the nation's 24th ranked team, Salisbury University, which is
25-1 on the season, and has won 25 straight games since losing
their season opener. The Salisbury game will begin at 2 pm.
