Gallaudet picks up conference road win in New York

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University men's volleyball team spoiled Senior Day for Pratt Institute here Saturday with a 3-1 United East conference win in the Activity Resource Center.

Gallaudet (5-15, 2-4 United East) won the first two sets 25-13, 25-23 before Pratt Institute (6-13, 0-7 United East) won the third in extra points, 25-27. The Bison closed out the 3-1 win with a 25-18 fourth set victory.

First-year opposite Zachary Bippus (Fishers, Ind.) and first-year outside hitter Kodi Lee (Lehi, Utah) led the way for GU on offense. The duo had nine kills each and Bippus added four blocks while Lee had two blocks and 11 digs.

First year Nathan Sheppeck (Frederick, Md.) and Tyler Wascher (Noblesville, Ind.) finished with seven and six kills, respectively. Wascher added a match-high seven blocks and Sheppeck made 10 digs.

First-year setter Troy Holcomb (Fremont, Calif.) passed out a match-high 28 assists and completed the double-double with 14 digs and added a match best three service aces. First-year libero Elian Zfati (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Bison with 16 digs in his return trip home.

GU finished with 60 digs, 39 kills, 35 assists. 10 blocks and six service aces.

Pratt was led by senior Jason Raymond who finished with a team-high 11 kills and 13 digs for the double-double.

UP NEXT
GU returns home for its final two regular-season contests this week. The Bison will face Wilson College (12-12, 6-1 United East) this Tuesday, April 1, at 7 p.m. in the Field House.
