WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University softball team began United East Conference play on a cool and cloudy Saturday afternoon at the GU Softball Complex against Penn State Harrisburg. The visiting Lions (12-6, 2-0 United East) swept the Bison (4-8, 0-2 United East with 4-0 and 13-1 (6 innings).
Game 1: Penn State Harrisburg 4, Gallaudet 0
Both teams flirted with a perfect game in the first three innings until Lions' Lillian Felt broke the perfect game with a single in the fourth.
First-year
Andi Sisemore (Arlington, Texas) then broke the drought with a hit. Sisemore hit into the fence that results of double at 4th bottom.
The game went scoreless until Lions scored four runs with two extra base hits in the sixth.
Bison couldn't find a way to hit against Lions' ace Mackenzie Sawdey (8-1) who threw a shutout & complete game with 15 strikeouts, allowed five hits and no walks.
Sisemore led the Bison with two hits.
GU starting pitcher
Christina Elsbury (Uniontown, Ohio) took the loss as she threw a complete game. Elsbury (2-4) allowed four earned runs and eight hits.
Game 2: Penn State Harrisburg 13, Gallaudet 1 (F/6)
Penn State Harrisburg built an early 5-0 in the first third innings and was able to bring the momentum to win the game as Gallaudet committed five errors.
GU got one run back in the bottom of the third when Elsbury doubled to bring Sisemore home from first.
Elsbury led the Bison with two hits.
Sophomore pitcher
Lacey Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) took the loss in the circle for the buff and blue.
Lions' Kierstyn Smith (2-1) took a win by allowed one run on five hits, one walk and struck out seven for the complete game win.

Gallaudet will next host Penn St.- Berks (9-8, 2-2 United East) on this Thursday April 4th for a United East doubleheader that begins at 3 p.m.
