Box Score 2 WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University baseball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader to Geneva College here Saturday at Hoy Field. The Bison lost the first game, 11-0, and the second game , 20-6, on a chilly afternoon.
Game 1: Geneva 11, Gallaudet 0
Geneva jumped to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning as the first game remained close until the latter parts of the game.
The Golden Tornadoes scored an unearned run in the fourth inning before Gallaudet broke up the no-hitter in the bottom half. Senior Austin Altman (Irvine, Calif.) stepped to the plate with two outs and singled up the middle off Geneva starting pitcher Dylan O'Rourke (1-0).
In the bottom of the fifth, Gallaudet started things off with back-to-back singles from sophomore Josh Dugan (San Antonio, Texas) and junior Ben Meyer (Monroe, Mich.). The Bison would strand the two base runners as O'Rourke got out of the jam.
Geneva broke things open in the sixth inning with seven runs to put the game away.
Gallaudet starting pitcher Frank Diaz (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) pitched into the fifth inning as he allowed eight runs on 10 hits, walked four and struck out six.
Game 2: Geneva 20, Gallaudet 6
Gallaudet led early in the second game as senior Winston Lane III (Brooklyn Center, Minn.) singled home junior Darren Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.), who walked, as the Bison got on the scoreboard. Later in the inning, sophomore Bryan Ramos-Navarro (Springfield, Mass.) brought home two additional runs as GU led 3-2.
Geneva (2-0) regained the lead in the second inning and never looked back from there. The Golden Tornadoes took a 7-3 lead. Geneva continued to add runs later in the game and led 20-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning where GU (2-5) pushed across two more runs to conclude the game, 20-6.
